Weeks in Review: Getting things in Order

Mental Health: Not a lot to report on here, the meds work now and I feel a lot better! Still anxious sometime, but I am able to sleep tightly, and I am able to not die daily. That's good. Work: Work has kind of blown up. We're moving forward with immense speed and a little under-organized for the time being. Trying my best to keep up! Organizing: I'm trying a new app to organize my days, gotta...

Weeks in Review: Skip a Beat

Mental Health: Increased the dose of drugs last weekend, now I am still dealing with some bad effects. I've started feeling better all in all though, but the heart palpiltations and the short breath is really getting me and making me more anxious. Work: Work was slow this week, thank god, but I've started actually getting back to it, and that's great. Life: I'm trying my hardest to make me do more things, but it's an uphill...

Weeks in Review: Questionable

Productivity: I returned to doing anything, at least. I haven't done quite enough, in my opinion, but it's getting better. Mental Health: The meds haven't settled in yet, and I have increased problems with sleeping and with anxiety, but let's see if that won't lift soon. Let's keep it at that until it gets more interesting....

Weeks in Review: Anxious

Editors Note: This week should be the last one that isn't covering any progress that isn't mental health and personal. Mental Health: Turns out my mental health issues are mostly related to generalized anxiety. My therapist suspected a deeper seated anxiety in me. And I'm starting Zoloft now. That's around all I have for you this week, there just has been a lot of introspective and reflection. Recovering from being so scared last week, too....

Weeks in Review: Adrift

Mental Health: I don't know when, but at some point between my amazing vacation and me quitting my job I lost myself. I lost Praxis. I felt like I was in a great place, and I felt that I was getting better by the day, but in reality? I withdrew more and more. I lost more and more of myself, bit by bit. This cummulated in the end of my two year relationship. The relationship...

Weeks in Review: Gaining Speed

CODE: I'm now in full preparation mode of the exam period, which will be 3 exams for me, personally. One about Graphics Interfaces, one about Clean Code (which I have a hold of theoretically, but I gotta show something, so I am reworking an old bot of mine with sensible design this time). And one simple being "Algorithms and Data Structure", in which I just need to be able to implement well known sort and...

"Week" in Review? Catching up

State of this Blog: Okay there is no way around this. This is my first entry for two months!!! This is mostly because I was going through a lot by quitting my job and looking for a new one. It was a very taxing time, and I am glad it's over. Mental Health: But speaking of which, let me lose a few words about how I've felt the last two months. The month of March was...

Week in Review: Be Happy

Travel: So, I'm home. I'm a bit exhausted. I still feel the jetlag. It wasn't as bad as in San Francisco, but it was still really really bad. The discomfort is getting less by the day, I'm a fighter :3 Mental Health: My base level happiness has greatly increased. My therapy said she noticed that during the session, too. Like, I am a mess right now, but I am a happier mess. Apartment: I've finally started decorating...

Week in Review: Further Confusion

Furry: So, Further Confusion happened. It was great. I met a bunch of cool folk, but I was still mostly reclusive and silent. That's okay, though. Mental Health: The reason I felt reclusive was mostly because of a huge ditch to self-worth. The people I met were more professional and adulter than I am. I am a web dev, aspiring game dev maybe. I do not feel comfortable talking about that because of Imposter Syndrome. I...

Week in Review: Jetlagged

Hey, this is going to be a prose entry again, since it's not like I've done a lot of focused work last week. I've been essentially sick, I underestimated jetlag and suffered the consequences. Jasper took good care of me, though. My travels have been great so far, seen a lot, will probably talk more about it next week??? Anyhow, currently I'm in the Hotel room at FC. I think I'll leave it at that and...

Week in Review: Traveling

Travel: Like I wrote in my Year in Review 2018, I'm traveling to San Fransisco today to meet with Jasper & see the sights. I've ran into countless problems already, including cancelled flights, security descrapency and the like. I really hope it'll go smoother from here on out! Work: To travel, I've left work behind after a really productive week. Can't say I learned a lot of new things this week, but I applied a...

Year 2018 in Review

So this will be a little different. This is supposed to wrap up 2018 in a meaningful way, by listing all the big things that happened to me and leaving all the bad things behind. It'll still have the same format as the weekly ones, it'll just be way longer. Work: I can't believe I started working at my current company only last year. It was quite the ride. I recently met with my previous supervisors,...

Holidays in Review

This is just a really small update, letting y'all know that I've stopped posting for now, in order to get through the holidays. I'll be back before long and with actual real regular updates, too. Thank you all for sticking around, and happy holidays...

Week in Review: Slowing down

Work: Work has become a tad better compared to last week. We're not working more closely with external parties. Met old coworkers recently and had a nice chat about the past, present and future of this company... University: The eSports initiative is taking off again. Last semester I was in a small group of people who wanted to make something happen, but we didn't have that perseverance to follow through. Also we had a great Jackbox...

Week in Review: Taking a Day

Work: Work has been unfulfilling this week. I hate nothing more than sitting on my hands until the time runs out. It started improving towards the end of the week, however the first three days have left their mark University: Disappointed by the general worldview most people at this University hold. Was confronted with that today and just... urgh... Godot: Done some stuff, hopefully will have more to talk about next week. That's all folks!...

Week in Review: Unexpected Turns

Security Incident: So, turns out I found a huge security flaw in my universities system. Basically they were using Prisma, and most of their calls didn't check if the user is authenticate or not. What a mess uncovering that was. Anyhow, it's mostly fixed now, but I'll keep digging and actually write a security report on it. Gonna be fun! Pen & Paper: After a long time I finally managed to play another round with...

I dove headfirst into Super Nintendo Programming, Here is what I learned

According to the Git history of my SNES folder, I started fiddling with the black magic that is 65c816 Assembly around 3 weeks ago. You might be wondering why I'd start playing around with SNES software in 2018? I'd say because I intend to turn SNES Software into a project at CODE University, however, that'd only be half of the truth. In reality. I picked the SNES because of nostalgia; I grew up with...

Week in Review: Full Steam

New Theme: Welcome to my new theme! The color scheme is very much based on both the dark themes of VSCode, as well as Atom. I hope you like it! Godot: Sadly no real progress to this, this week. I'm only listing it here because I am figuratively yearning for it! SNES: My SNExperiments continue! I had some troubles with some bitwise rotational experimentation last time, however I managed to get it to work...

Week in Review: Bitter Freedom

University (Porsche): I quit. For all intentions and purposes, I am no longer in this group. Mental Health: Which... has affected me greatly. I spent most of this week at home, feeling guilty, feeling overwhelmed. I didn't expect to feel that way. Now, today, on Friday, I feel lighter again. But it's been a hard battle. Learnings: I'm getting started with Godot, so far (having started yesterday) I really love their UI and workflow! SNES: I've cleaned...

Week in Review: Resignation

Midterms: I am German. They happened in the US. They mentally affected me. Health: I think I am all good now. Learnings: I learned a whole bunch on how to navigate Jira as I've taken up a more process manager-y role in the University Porsche Project (more about this in a second). Additionally, I have finally started to do SNES development! So let's add that point to our little list here! SNES: Turns out doing this...

"Week" in Review: Oops

Health: I recovered some, still not back at 100% healthy, but a good 90% probably. Porsche Project (University): I had decided I wanted to drop a lot of responsibility, but discussing that with the team put me in a position I could negotiate more easily. Long story short, I ended up in a more process managing position than planned; I also met up with Porsche last week. The meeting went over well. I still feel the...

Week in Review: Sick

Github Outage: When I woke up on monday, I thought I'd go insane because of issues appearing and disappearing, way to throw me through a loop, Github Porsche Project (University): I've decided to drop a lot the the responsibility in this, in favor of trying to contribute to open source projects (e.g via CodeTriage). Got an agreement with my team about that. FOSS: I've been made admin of the name-suggestion-index repo. The community is...

Week in Review: Stressed

Porsche Project (University): I've started building a TCP client for the CAN signals we received. Repo is private for now (NDA). Work: Okay so, I'm basically up for a promotion, although there hasn't been anything concrete yet Been fiddling with React. Fixed a few attribute bugs. Coaching (University): Coaching a new group now. Got really good feedback for a new technique I'm trying out. It's based on Dan Woods' Killer Whale and Monkey Technique, as outlined in

Week in Review: Beginnings

Porsche Project (University): Not much happened this week in regards to this project, we are slowly settling in what direction we want to move. I should probably explain the situation a little bit in a dedicated post... Work: I've kind of been useless at work this week. Need to get back into React, but couldn't really find the time to actually do much. Coaching (University): Had a training this week, mostly about gender bias awareness during coaching sessions. Coaching is...

Do More Things

praxis@praxis-elementary:~/projects/devblog$ pelican content And suddenly we're rolling. What a feat of technology to launch me into this environment. Thanks to Pelican, I was able to set up this server within just a few hours. Initially, I had planned to spend a weekend building my own solution, but then I had a fantastic idea: I decided to fork the fuzzy notepad instead. See, Eevee...
